Barbarie - Barbarity is a project ideated by Marcello Maloberti and Adrian Paci for the Department of Visual, Performing and Multimedia Arts of NABA - Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti Milano, directed by Marco Scotini; the exhibition is curated by Marcello Maloberti and Adrian Paci; coordination by: Giovanni de Lazzari, Caterina Iaquinta, Francesco Locatelli.

Barbarie - Barbarity is here intended as an attitude and inclination towards the art experience which moves along boundaries of ordinary languages and is detected in the proximity of the works, characterized by different natures and techniques, selected among those made by Three-year BA Painting and Visual Arts’ students. The capability of creating new forces, concepts and obsessions, comes, indeed, from the possibility of exploiting the language, moving in a territory, which remains, however, always foreign. This potential power of the language is perceived as necessarily and obstinately barbarian.

In their works, students have looked naturally at everything that dialogues with the “instinctive” that comes out from the actual readiness and necessity, focusing on the relevance of a desiring dimension, which stands for the ground of the artistic creation. In order to remark these aspects of saturation and subtraction, intensity and reduction, emptiness and fullness, noise and silence, the exhibition space has been conceived on the ground of opposition. This structure is based on the nature of exhibited works, representing the multiplicity of languages, techniques, stimuli and gestures which are generating forces.

In the Barbarie - Barbarity, there are: Emre Baloglu, Irene Belfi, Martina Brembati, Gloria Carucci, Cosimo Casoni, Fabio Cattelan, Nicolò Colciago, Irene Coppola, Filip Adrian Dziegielewski Elisabetta Falanga, Giulia Fumagalli, Roberta Garbagnati, Alice Gerosa, Francesca Grossi, Cecilie Hjelvik Andersen, Po-Tzu Huang, Jessica Laufer, Alessandro Lenzolari, Giulia Maiorano, Giorgia Mocilnik, Flavia Montecchi, Serena Nassini, Maria Cecilia Nelli, Giulia Pellegrini, Daniela Peracchi, Alessandra Piga, Claudia Ponzi, Lavinia Raccanello, Giulia Ratti, Alkim Andrea Reggioli, Maria Luisa Ronchi, Florencia Sanchez, Irene Sartorio, Davide Serpetti, Sofia Sita, Mauro Valsecchi, Aberto Venturini, Martina Viganò, Federica Vesprini, Sara Zioni.
